Trinity College, University of Cambridge

I am a MSci Natural Sciences student in my final year at Cambridge, specialising in theoretical chemistry. My research explores open quantum systems and quantum chaos, at the intersection of quantum physics and theoretical chemistry.

I am interested in how measurement, information and dynamics shape the behaviour of quantum systems, with broader interests in mathematical physics, quantum optics and atomic, molecular and optical physics.

Research

Metastability in non-Markovian open quantum systems

2026–2027

Final year research project · University of Cambridge · Supervised by Professor Rob L. Jack

My final year project will investigate metastability in non-Markovian open quantum systems.

Open quantum systems internship

2026

University of Cambridge · Supervised by Professor Rob L. Jack

Studied an open quantum system of two qubits with a decoherence free subspace. I investigated how different environmental measurements give rise to different quantum trajectory unravelings of the same Lindblad master equation, including quantum jumps under photodetection and diffusive unravelings. I used Python and QuTiP for numerical simulations.

Quantum chaos and the quantum kicked top

2026

In collaboration with Professor Arjendu K. Pattanayak and Peter Rose

Investigating quantum chaos and quantum information in the quantum kicked top. I am preparing a manuscript on this work as first author.

Experimental organic chemistry

2025

Dydio Group · University of Cambridge

Summer research investigating oxidative thianthrenation and reaction optimisation through synthetic chemistry and analytical characterisation.

Publications & preprints

  1. Manuscript on the quantum kicked top (first author). In preparation.

Academic background

BA (Hons) and MSci, Natural Sciences (Chemistry)

Expected 2027

Trinity College, University of Cambridge

Current specialisation in theoretical chemistry.

Selected Part III courses include Advanced Quantum Mechanics; Quantum Field Theory; Symmetries, Particles and Fields; and Machine Learning in Atomistic Simulation. Next term: Quantum Entanglement in Many-body Physics and Advanced Quantum Field Theory.

Other interests

Outside my studies, I play violin and piano, and enjoy rock climbing, strength training and hiking. I also volunteer with CISV, an international organisation that promotes peace education and intercultural understanding through programmes for young people.

A group of friends with backpacks in a road tunnel, with a lake and mountains beyond.
